Ken Muir is options licensed and has a wealth of experience in financing and trading oil and gas and mining exploration companies. He was formerly Vice President and Manager of Investor Relations for Fleck Resources (now Polymet- which is developing a huge copper/nickel project in Minnesota) and Northern Platinum Limited. Responsible for communicating with investors and through these connections, Ken generated many contacts in the North American mining exploration business.
Ken entered the investment industry in 1986 at Midland Doherty, which was eventually taken over by Merrill Lynch. In 1994, he entered the brokerage business at Brink Hudson, moving to Union Securities before joining Macquarie in late 2011, which was acquired by Richardson GMP. Ken moved to Dundee Goodman Private Wealth in early 2014 and stayed during the acquisition by Echelon Wealth Partners early in 2016. In 2024 Echelon formed Ventum Financial, a merger of equals with PI Financial.
Prior to entering finance, Ken was a manager and booking agent for recording artists Silverlode, winning the West Coast Music Award for best independent recording in 1981. He was also a road manager for the internationally successful Irish Rovers during their Eastern Canadian tour in 1981. After four years in the education department at the University of British Columbia, Ken opted not to pursue a teaching career and earned a Bachelor of General Studies at Simon Fraser University in 1979.
Ken has been extensively involved in the community, coaching soccer for twelve years and baseball for six. He and his wife sponsor five children in Africa and are active in fundraising for the Hope Centre for psychiatric illnesses at Lions Gate Hospital.
